Dr. Jihye Kim is an Associate Lecturer in Korean Studies in the School of Language and Cultural Studies at UCLan. A specialist in the migration, history and settlement experiences of diasporic Koreans, Dr. Kim has focused her research on Korean and Korean Chinese (Joseonjok) immigrants in Argentina.

Full Profile

Dr. Jihye Kim is an Associate Lecturer in Korean Studies in the School of Language and Cultural Studies at UCLan. Prior to joining UCLan in 2017, she taught Korean language, culture and history at several universities, such as Keimyoung University (2003), Catholic University of Peru (2004-2008), National University of Colombia (2009), and The University of Auckland (2012-2016).

Dr. Kim specialises in the migration, history and settlement experiences of diasporic Koreans. She has published a number of works on Korean and Korean Chinese (Joseonjok) immigrants in Argentina. She participates in team research projects on the Korean and Jewish communities in Buenos Aires, funded by the Argentine National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET). Her current research interests include Korean and Korean Chinese (Joseonjok) immigration and entrepreneurship in Argentina and Brazil, and North Korean refugees in the United Kingdom.
