Debbie returned to UCLan in February 2017 as a full-time Lecturer in Sexual & Reproductive Health. Debbie contributes to teaching on the BSc Sexual Health Studies, BSc (Hons) Sexual Health Practice, and MSc Sexual Health Studies. Debbie has a background in Nursing, qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 1991, specialising in young person’s sexual health and is the course leader on the BSc (Hons) Sexual Health Practice.

Debbie has worked in sexual health since 2004 undertaking a variety of roles working as a sexual health nurse predominantly within young person’s services in community clinics and further education settings. Having worked for 18 months as a Lecturer with the Sexual Health from 2007-2009, Debbie returned to clinical settings and worked in various local and national clinical leadership roles in primary and secondary healthcare organisations. Including the role of National Head of Nursing for Brook Young People, a dedicated young person’s sexual health charity. Most recently Debbie spent 2 years working as the Gynaecology Matron in Liverpool Women’s NHS Trust before returning to UCLan to take up a Lecturer in Sexual Health post in February 2017. Debbie has completed a BSc in Sexual Health in practice and a MSc in Leadership Development (Clinical Leadership). Debbie module leads, teaches and support students across both the undergraduate and postgraduate sexual health curriculum, in addition to contributing to the pre and post-registration Nursing and Midwifery pathways.
