Andrea is a Nurse Educator working across all fields for pre and post registration nursing, focusing on supporting students with clinical skills.

Full Profile

Andrea qualified as a registered Children’s Nurse in 2006 from UCLan and worked at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on the Children’s unit caring for children with surgical and medical conditions.  From 2008 Andrea was student nurse co-ordinator for the unit overseeing the mentoring of students and had close links with the PEF’s and Universities.

In 2011 Andrea went to study Health Visiting at University of Cumbria and qualified in 2012.  From their Andrea was successful in gaining a job within Blackpool as a Health Visitor and worked closely with families who have children between the ages of 0-5 years, providing health promotion and working closely with members of multi-disciplinary teams to offer extra support to families as needed.

Since commencing in the Nurse Educator role Andrea has become a home group tutor for child field students, a health champion promoting the university at schools and HE colleges and is in the process of going out to support student nurse’s in placement.

Teaching Activities and Responsibilities

Nurse Educator for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working 1:1 with student nurses around clinical skills.  Facilitates drop in sessions on clinical skills within university and assists in teaching on modules which includes assessments.
