My clinical background is intensive care/high dependency nursing with a specific interest in the provision of End of Life care within such a highly technological speciality. I have continued to improve my clinical knowledge and skills through CPD and post registration qualifications. I am a module leader for a 3rd year Adult pre-registration module. I am passionate about nursing and teaching and aim to use my knowledge, skills and practice experiences to inform students.

Full Profile

Following on from experiences in community care and registered childcare over a number of year’s nurse training became a natural progression. I have been a UCLan student from pre -registration and through CPD over a period greater than 10 years. Through this a strong commitment to UCLan and its students has developed. Clinical post registration experience within ICU has led to acquiring a high level of clinical knowledge and skills from nursing patients with a wide variety of acute medical and surgical conditions. This knowledge is maintained through continuing to practice in a clinical role and keeping up to date with evidence based practice.

In addition to teaching in a clinical setting, the opportunity to develop into full time lecturing came from an 18 month secondment to UCLan as a lecturer/practitioner. Combining the lecturer/clinical role over this period of time provided insight into the needs of students both in theory and practice within the curriculum. I have been a full time lecturer at UCLan since Sept 2015.
