Archaeology
The BSc (Hons) Archaeology combines hands-on practical work with lectures. Fieldwork is a core part of the degree and is assessed: all students do a minimum of 10 weeks fieldwork during their 3 year course. You will get the chance to take part in local archaeology as well as work further afield in the UK and abroad. Whilst being one of the biggest universities in the country, we have an excellent staff:student ratio meaning you get the time and attention you deserve. We have excellent facilities such as a new archaeological science laboratory which includes areas for processing finds as well as a soil flotation unit; and a dedicated bone lab for the analysis of skeletal remains. We have a suite of geophysical equipment and excavation equipment. We also develop online materials such as our How to Dig : Archaeology Methods resource.
As well our BSc (Hons) Archaeology, we offer postgraduate courses including a range of Master's programmes.
