Eco Marathon in Germany

UCLAN Eco Marathon in Germany

University Eco Marathon team is ready and set for an exciting Shell Eco Marathon in 2010. After an 8 month plans and build process the team feel confident in achieving a better result than the former Eco teams. The car that is equipped with a Honda GH8X50 engine is aimed to hopefully produce a small amount of fuel used per gallon.

UCLan Engineering at the Big Bang

Sports science and Motor sports students create a big bang of their own at the Manchester Big Bang event. The stand team consisted of six team members, four of which were sports science students: Shakila Ali, Stephanie Alexandria Birtles, Rachael Walton and last but not least Richard Kellet who become the mighty morph.

ChiCI win £1.5 million to 'Save the Planet'

The ChiCI group are delighted to report the successful award of an EPSRC 3 year grant to investigate energy use with teenagers. This grant, totalling £1.5M for which UCLan has a £320K share is across five universities (Birmingham, Swansea, Northumbria and IoE) and the ChiCI group are leading the bid which makes the award even more significant.

Uncovering the mysteries of the Universe’s ‘coolest’ star

A UCLan astrophysicist is at the centre of a research riddle involving one of the ‘coolest’ known stars in the Universe.

Dr Mark Rushton, from the Jeremiah Horrock Institute, has been leading a research team also involving scientists from Keele University and the Gemini Observatory.
