Co-ordinated nationally and internationally a collaborative programme of practice centred user informed research on pathways into, screening of, needs and risk assessment and interventions with and outcomes on young offenders and complex need children.
Directly contributing to the 10 High Impact Changes for Mental Health Services, Children's National Service Framework implementation and beyond, e.g. Social Inclusion Plan.
There has been ongoing development of the programme of needs led, risk managed, evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions for children and adolescents in health and social care, juvenile justice and special education systems who have mental health difficulties and complex unmet needs.
There are two central themes to the research, those around policy, education and training and those about treatment interventions. These two branches of research converge to deliver three key areas, research and service development for children in the Criminal Justice System, training on matters of good mental health service practice and shaping national policy, key partners are Bolton Salford & Trafford NHS Trust and University of Manchester.
