The Language Academy and UCLan provide students with the state-of-the-art facilities needed to support your academic studies, as well as the services to help you enjoy your UK and university experience.
The Worldwise Centre is a friendly environment where students can meet and socialise with international friends.
The centre has 30 computers with specialist language learning software built-in. Also available are digital, video and audio resources, study books, dictionaries as well as high-quality interpreting and video conferencing facilities for international meetings.
Cultural events are also hosted by the centre to mark celebrations such as Chinese New Year and Diwali.
The UCLan library is one of the North West’s largest and most impressive learning facilities and provides excellent learning resources in a comfortable study environment.
The library is open 24-hours a day, seven-days a week to all students during term-time. There are study rooms and pods available to book-out as well as open-access PC and Apple Mac suites. Laptops are also available for students to use on the ground floor during office hours.
Library staff are on-hand to offer support or advice and there is a café for when you need a break from studying.
Membership to UCLan’s sports facilities is free for all students and provides access to the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre, the UCLan Sports Arena and activities delivered by university sports staff.
The Sports Centre is a modern leisure facility on the UCLan campus and consists of a gym, two sports halls, two fitness studios and a squash court.
The Sports Arena provides facilities for athletics, football, rugby, hockey, netball, tennis and cycling.
Clubs, competitions and events run throughout the year and are a great way to keep students healthy and happy alongside their studies.
The Students’ Union at UCLan is dedicated to ensuring that each student makes the most of their university experience and enjoys their time in the UK.
Every student is automatically a member of the Union, which provides everything from advice and support to societies and clubs to join. The Union also regularly hosts events and cultural festivals.
There are two initiatives run by the Union to encourage students to try something new. ‘Give it a go’ includes day-trips to North West sights, activities such as craft-making and the opportunity to help out at events. ‘Get in2’ focuses on getting students active and involved with sports activities at the university.
You may already be aware of what your plans are after leaving UCLan but the Careers team are always available to help point you in the right direction of further study or career plans.
Advice can also be provided about internships, work experience or placements abroad which you can often do alongside your studies.
The Careers team can also assist with your CV/resume and can provide mock interviews to help you gain confidence.
