Journalism and Media

The School of Journalism and Media is a research active School and has a vibrant research community whose work earns significant sums of external research funding annually. All of our keynote research feeds directly into our teaching programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level and ensures that students get the advantage of being tutored by people who are at the cutting edge of their subject areas. As well as our impressive Media Innovation Studio, with its focus on field leading developments such as interactive newsprint, we have research teams working in the areas of contemporary cinema, the future of journalism, the media and popular culture, to name but a few.

Research is essential to the School because it informs our thinking, stimulates our curiosity, confounds untested certainties, exposes assumptions – and is fun to do!
