Research

The Schools research activity focuses on four key areas. These are

  • Healthy and Sustainable Settings Unit: Professor Mark Dooris
  • Maternal & Infant Nutrition & Nurture Unit: Professor Fiona Dykes
  • Research in Childbirth & Health: Professor Downe

These areas of research boast significant success both nationally and internationally generating a significant amount of research income. In addition the recent Research Excellence Framework review demonstrated significant improvement with an increase of four and three star impact /output returns.

As the School’s research profile increases so do the numbers of postgraduate students who choose to undertake doctoral study with us. This number will be boosted by the introduction of a professional doctorate and the potential conversion of clinical academic research internships projects. The development of our research profile is supported by the College of Health and Wellbeing HERMI Hub which supports research design, data management and analysis across all research themes.
