The School of Community Health and Midwifery has state-of-the-art clinical skills laboratories. You will use them throughout your course to develop your skills in a safe environment, practicing again and again until you feel confident to try them out, under supervision, in practice. We have a wide range of equipment in the skills laboratories and ‘drop-in’ sessions are also provided by Practice Learning Instructors.
These facilities are complemented by the UCLan Library which provides comfortable, flexible study spaces and offers a wealth of excellent learning resources, extensive collections of information sources and expert help and support from Library staff.
The Placement Learning Support Unit is responsible for managing and co-ordinating the practice experiences of over four thousand students. A number of developments have been introduced to help students, mentors and link lecturers enhance the quality of practice learning.
Comensus (Community Engagement and Service User Support) is service user and carer led and has been developed to embed their voices within health and social care practice. Comensus provides a central hub for co-ordination and facilitation of user and carer involvement in the Schools.
