The School of Business has an excellent reputation for learning and teaching and is proud of its work on an international level. We offer a range of business related courses which will equip you for employment in a wide-range of professions. Students within the School are encouraged to ‘think outside the box’ which involves researching, understanding and presenting creative solutions to contemporary business challenges.

Our LaunchPad leadership development programme is unique to the School of Business and the School of Management and provides students with opportunities to achieve their professional goals, whether they want to gain entry to the top 100 companies in the UK, embark on an international career, or set up a business.

LaunchPad students learn about the challenges of the current job market as well as helping them to develop their skills through a mixture of workshops, events and company visits.

We are renowned for developing graduates who are highly employable and have strong entrepreneurial skills. All of our degree courses offer a 48-week work placement opportunity where students can work in a real business and gain vital work experience. There are also opportunities for work experience through short internships, placements and volunteering. Many of our students have been offered permanent employment or an internship following a work experience opportunity.

Our students have a range of international opportunities and we actively encourage them to apply for the University’s Travel Bursary Scheme, which provides financial support to students wishing to engage in international travel during their course of study. There may also be an opportunity to work abroad or take part in a study trip.

UCLan’s School of Business has professional associations and accreditations with various professional bodies including; the Institute of Directors (IoD), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA), the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Our Courses

We offer a varied range of business related undergraduate programmes and, thanks to our comprehensive teaching, our students are high achievers and we are recognised as having some of the best in the UK. We have an excellent track record in the prestigious Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) student competition and have won it five times. Our students have also previously won the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM) Student Marketing Competition beating over 100 teams from across the UK.

In addition to this, According to the 2015 National Student Survey, students who studied Economics at UCLan rated us second in the North West. Students who studied BA (Hons) Accounting were 100% satisfied with their course, with access to learning resources scoring highly.
