Julia Stickley

Has been a business start-up adviser since 1990. Originally Office Manager, then Deputy MD, Company Secretary and Book-Keeper for Blackpool & Fylde Business Agency for seven years. The Agency was subsumed into Business Link Fylde Coast in 1997 and she was Start-Up Manager and Start-Up Contracts Manager with Business Link for 10 years, managing start-up activities across Lancashire.

Julia joined UCLan's Northern Lights Business Support team in 2007 and has been Business Support Co-ordinator of UCLan's Business Incubation ever since.

As part of the MORE Programme she is one of four in house SFEDI accredited business adviser/mentors supported by specialist external mentors and coaches. As co-ordinator for the incubation process, Julia runs a series of start-up workshops for our clients, supports the enterprise tutors across the university and arranges external support from industry professionals who provide advice clinics to our clients on legal, financial, recruitment and intellectual property issues among others.

John Duckworth

John Duckworth

John has considerable experience as a business consultant and management practitioner both in the UK and Australia and is able to provide a comprehensive range of business support, one to one mentoring to pre starts and start- ups including those aspiring to rapid growth.

Working for over forty years with multi-million pound organisations and SMEs he brings considerable know-how to bear on helping clients get more of what they want and exceed their own expectations.

In 1994 he set up his own management consultancy business, utilising his extensive knowledge of organisational diagnostics, strategy development and its implementation, marketing, process analysis and design, operations and supply chain management and the “end to end” application of “lean” principles in order to improve performance in a variety of industry sectors, especially in fast moving consumer goods and services and professional services.

Lateef Badat

Lateef Badat

Lateef Badat, Business Advisor / Mentor and Coach specialises in pre and new start businesses.

He is passionate about helping innovative entrepreneurs, working with them to grow their business at every stage. Lateef has a unique recipe of asking questions that help you to discover and uncover the key ingredients that will make you and your business successful.

Lateef’s expert use of one-to-one business coaching and facilitating action learning sessions helps creative entrepreneurs with an objective sounding board, space to bounce around ideas, and a platform to spring board those ideas into action.

Lateef is a SFEDI accredited business advisor / mentor / coach, and also a qualified life coach, master practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), and completed many other personal development training programmes, so masterfully applies his skills and experience to both the entrepreneur and their business.

Lateef has experience of working in both the private and public sectors, particularly within community regeneration programmes where he honed his craft of listening, communicating and empowering people and first shared his own brand of coaching magic! Janet Worsley

Janet Worsley

Janet is a highly experienced and versatile Personal Assistant/ Secretary who has worked in commercial/ manufacturing, engineering, the private sector and higher education environments, assisting at directorate/ chairman level. Also an experienced manager and project administrator, her versatility enables her to assist with all requirements of the Northern Lights team and clients. Janet is competent in all areas of Microsoft Office and is a proficient shorthand/typist. She is available as the Northern Lights first point of contact at the reception desk and is always happy to greet clients and guests and to take on the daily challenge of assisting the smooth operation of Northern Lights.
