UCLan makes new arrivals feel welcome with week of exciting events
New students arriving at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) are being given an action-packed and friendly welcome to life in Preston.
Beginning when students collected the keys to their halls of residence on Sunday, the new arrivals were treated to entertainment from Titan the Robot, a one-man band, inflatable games, musicians and stilt walkers. They even had help moving in from the Students’ Union (SU) clubs and societies volunteers.
“This year’s Welcome Week is by far the best welcome new students have ever had to UCLan."
During Welcome Week, which runs until Friday 18 September, the students are being made to feel at home through a variety of induction events and social activities including a paint party, an outdoor cinema, a huge tea party and the annual Freshers’ Fair and Sports and Societies Fairs.
UCLan SU President Josie Linsel commented: “This year’s Welcome Week is by far the best welcome new students have ever had to UCLan. We’ve put on a wide variety of activities to suit all interests and encourage new students to get to know the University, the Students’ Union, the city of Preston and each other to ensure that their time studying at UCLan is the best it can be.”
