UCLan welcomes Chief Executive from the Institute for Nanotechnology

The exciting possibilities of nanotechnology developments were highlighted at a recent public lecture, hosted by the Samuel Lindow Foundation at UCLan’s Westlakes Campus and delivered by Dr Mark Morrison, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Nanotechnology (IoN).

Entitled: Nanotechnology – the jam on the bread and in the doughnut, the lecture explored the science behind a technology which promises to offer ways to create smaller, cheaper, lighter and faster devices that can do more using fewer raw materials and consuming less energy.

Dr Rick Wylie, Samuel Lindow Academic Director at UCLan’s Westlakes Campus, said: “We were delighted to welcome Dr Morrison to the campus and he delivered a fascinating talk into an area of science we are looking to develop here at Westlakes.

“The Samuel Lindow Foundation via UCLan is now a member of the Institute of Nanotechnology and we look forward to working together with national and international partners to explore the potential of this science for the benefit of all.”

The Institute of Nanotechnology is a global leader in the provision of education, information and support to the development of nanotechnology. As part of its educational outreach programme, and in collaboration with UCLan, Dr Morrison also gave a fascinating insight into the nano-technological future to over 150 students at Westlakes Academy (an award-winning school of which UCLan is a sponsor alongside Sellafield Limited and the NDA).
