The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is proud to announce that its long-term partnership with the International College of Engineering and Management (ICEM) is set to continue for a further year, with negotiations set to be concluded shortly regarding a new landmark 10-year agreement.

The new one-year contract was confirmed at a recent signing ceremony in London when Mr Affan K. Al Akhzam, Chief Executive Officer at ICEM, joined UCLan’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) Professor Robin Pollard to confirm the new deal.

UCLan and ICEM have been partners in Oman for over ten years delivering unique Bachelor degree courses in Fire Safety Engineering; Well Engineering; Facilities Management and Health, Safety and Environmental Management. UCLan is one of the most popular universities in the UK with an excellent track record for graduate employability and a research capability which is rated as either world-leading or internationally excellent in the areas of business, health, humanities and science.

“We are delighted to announce the confirmation of our partnership with UCLan enabling us to continue the delivery of some of the University’s most prestigious courses here in Oman."

With this announcement ICEM will continue to provide UCLan approved courses in Oman focused on providing a truly world-class higher education learning environment based on practical vocational teaching with a strong bias towards producing graduates who are ‘employer ready’, well rounded and internationally experienced.

Commenting on the new agreement Dr Martin Brown, Dean at ICEM, said: “We are delighted to announce the confirmation of our partnership with UCLan enabling us to continue the delivery of some of the University’s most prestigious courses here in Oman.

“Over the last ten years almost 2,000 students have graduated from ICEM with diplomas and degrees accredited from UCLan, the vast majority of these entering the private sector and building successful careers in Oman and other GCC countries.”

“Through our long-term commitment to work together, ICEM and UCLan can offer the guarantee of an unrivalled educational experience. New students will mix with a truly international cohort, their education will be practical but research informed."

Professor Robin Pollard, UCLan's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) added: "The reinvigorated relationship between ICEM and UCLan is a wonderful development. It was brought about through new reciprocal relationships with a strong commitment to quality and building capacity."

ICEM continues to receive the endorsement from the Oman Ministry of Higher Education and other GCC Higher Education Authorities.

Dr Brown continued: “There is no doubt that the quality and unique nature of the courses on offer from ICEM and UCLan have produced graduates who are in demand and we are now witnessing a surge in interest for our September 2015 entry.

“Through our long-term commitment to work together, ICEM and UCLan can offer the guarantee of an unrivalled educational experience. New students will mix with a truly international cohort, their education will be practical but research informed and they will emerge as successful graduates, equipped with the knowledge and skills attractive to range of potential employers. What’s more they’ll enjoy the educational journey we provide, complete with memories that will last a lifetime.”
