Fashion and Brand Promotion students collaborate with Debenhams

Budding Gok Wan’s from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) unveiled their own interpretations of some of the summer’s hottest trends at a free fashion show at Debenhams Preston.

The aspiring stylists were given access to Debenhams’ latest creations and tasked with putting a fresh twist on this year’s must-own outfits as part of an exciting tie-in with the world famous department store.

As part of the event the first year Fashion and Brand Promotion students devised three catwalk collections showcasing the latest day wear, night wear, lingerie and swimwear covering this summer’s key fashion trends: floral, 60s and riveria.

“Last year the students put on a show rivalling anything a professional agency could manage and they certainly delivered more of the same this time.”

Debenhams’ Restaurant Manager, Julie Briody, said: “This is the second time we have hosted the UCLan student fashion show in what is a truly unique event. “Last year the students put on a show rivalling anything a professional agency could manage and they certainly delivered more of the same this time.”

“This has been an amazing opportunity for our students to work with one of the best-known and most respected stores on the High Street and once again our undergraduates put on an amazing show for the public.”

Louise Smith, Course Leader of Fashion and Brand Promotion, said: “This has been an amazing opportunity for our students to work with one of the best-known and most respected stores on the High Street and once again our undergraduates put on an amazing show for the public.”

During the show the course’s second year students unveiled a selection of photographs from brands such as Red Herring, ‘H’ Henry Holland and Betty Jackson. These images will make a permanent exhibition on the walls of the Debenhams top floor restaurant in Preston.
