Preston’s seventh annual International Film Festival will hit the big screen later this month with a week-long programme of events.
Presented by the Worldwise Learning Centre at The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) from the 21 to 28 October, the festival will feature eight films in a range of languages to celebrate cinema from around the world.
The first night will open with British film Piercing Brightness, which was filmed in Preston, followed by an abundance of fantastic foreign films in Arabic, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. All will have English subtitles.
The Dean of the School of Language, Literature and International Studies at UCLan, Isabel Donnelly, commented: “Following on from the success of the recent European Day of Languages event at UCLan when schoolchildren from all over the region attended a foreign language taster day, the University is continuing its commitment to language learning by inviting people to celebrate international cinema on the big screen.”
All films will be screened at UCLan’s Mitchell and Kenyon Cinema in Foster building. Tickets can be purchased for each film individually or visitors can buy a festival pass for access to all eight films at a reduced price.
