Sporting greats to receive honorary awards

They will join nearly 4,000 students who will don their UCLan cap and gown for the nine graduation ceremonies

Two famous sportsmen with strong links to the red rose county are to receive Honorary Fellowships from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

Four-time World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty, from Blackburn, and former Lancashire County Cricket captain Wasim Akram are among four professionals who will accept the prestigious honorary awards next week.

They will be joined by UCLan alumnus His Honour Judge Jonathan Rose and former UCLan Group Chief Executive Richard Hext.

From 11 July to 15 July, nearly 4,000 students will don their academic caps and gowns and take to the stage of Preston’s Guild Hall for the prestigious Degree and Award Ceremonies. They will be watched by thousands of family, friends, distinguished guests and University staff.
