A UCLan student has helped organise a clinical workshop and opening ceremony at the new Royal London Hospital as part of her public relations placement.
Sophia Ratcliffe, a Business Joint Honours student studying Business Management and Public Relations at the Lancashire Business School, organised the event which featured medical professionals from across the country. It included a visit to the facilities at the new ‘super-centre’ hospital.
Sophia was involved in the project as part of her placement year at The Scott Partnership, a specialist PR agency in life sciences and pharmaceuticals.
"UCLan have been great in supporting me to find a placement that suited me both academically and professionally."
Sarah Evans, Account Manager at The Scott Partnership said: “Placements are a great opportunity for students to grow within their field of interest and gain key experience. Sophia has been involved in every aspect of the agency and is a real valued member of the team.”
Sophia has been on a PR placement at The Scott Partnership in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire since August 2011 and has gained a wide array of public relations skills which will most definitely help her when continuing her last year of studies here at UCLan.
She said: “This placement has given me the opportunity to undertake tasks that I would never have imagined I would do while studying at university. UCLan have been great in supporting me to find a placement that suited me both academically and professionally. I can’t wait to come back to university and transfer the skills I have learnt within the industry into my studies.”
