Budding graphic designer is looking ahead to a creative future
A mature Blackpool student who took a break from learning has been inspired to come back into education and study at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to pursue her dream of becoming a graphic designer.
Foundation Entry Graphic Design student Sarah Gregory was unsure what she wanted to do after finishing her A Levels at Blackpool Sixth Form College. Deciding not to come to University straight away, she delved into the world of work whilst she thought about where she wanted to go next.
The 23-year-old said: “I was unsure about what I wanted to do after finishing my A Levels. I didn’t want to rush into making a decision so I took a few years out and worked at the retailer Next whilst I considered different options.”
"I definitely think that doing the Foundation Degree was a really good idea. It’s eased me back into education and now I feel ready to tackle a degree, I’m back in that mind-set."
But after realising that her passion for design was still there, Sarah was inspired by her A Level graphic design tutor and returned to education after a four-year break.
Now, she has graduated from the foundation entry course and is looking ahead to September and the start of a three-year degree in graphic design.
Sarah added: “I definitely think that doing the Foundation Degree was a really good idea. It’s eased me back into education and now I feel ready to tackle a degree, I’m back in that mind-set.”
Already thinking ahead to the future and life after University, Sarah would love to work as a freelance graphic designer and possibly lecture other students on the subject.
