The UCLan Honorary Fellow took over as British Cycling President in 1997 and has since helped turn the sport into one of the most popular in the UK.

Students and staff were treated to a special evening where Mr Cookson shared tales about his time in cycling and how GB achieved great success at the Athens, Beijing and London Olympic games.

The free event was organised as part of the University’s ‘Student Engagement Week’ which was designed to help inspire students and give them an opportunity to put questions to people who have reached the top of their field.
