Study in the School of Sport, Tourism and The Outdoors
Students in the School of Sport, Tourism and the Outdoors can expect to develop practical and academic skills using the university’s excellent facilities and staff expertise.
Support
The school strives to support all students during their time at UCLan, both academically and on a more personal level. We have a Student Liaison Officer who provides a link between students, the university and the Students’ Union, enabling students to access a wide variety of services. We also provide support for students with disabilities and for international students.
Employability
We place great emphasis on learning by doing and many of our courses include work placements or sandwich years to allow students to spend time working in industry. Our own Placements Unit works with students to help find the right one and support them whilst they are there. Many tourism, hospitality and events students spend a year on placement in industry in the UK, Europe or far flung corners of the globe.
UCLan’s Sports students have the opportunity to work with local sports and football clubs such as Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End to provide match analysis and player development plans. They also have access to ProZone, a sports analysis tool used in industry which provides them with transferable and sought after skills.
