Why study Economics at Lancashire Business School?
None of us is immune to the effects of economic decision-making. Whether on a global, national or local or even personal level, we are all potential beneficiaries or victims. Now, more than ever before, money really does ‘make the world go round’.
Economists are involved in the most fundamental decisions in the areas of health, education, transport, environment, criminal justice, planning and finance. Their skills are needed in all sectors of industry as well as by international non- and quasi- governmental agencies.
In addition, the subject has a rich intellectual heritage that appeals to those of a reflective nature confronting, as it does, issues such as wealth and poverty, equity, efficiency and social justice.
At Lancashire Business School we offer Economics as a single and combined honours undergraduate degree with a choice of several different routes. You can download our brochure for more information.
Related Postgraduate courses in this field include Financial Management, and International Finance and Investment.
What are my prospects when I graduate?

Economists are employed in a variety of settings in both the public and private sectors. The largest employer of economists is the Civil Service through the Government Economic Service (GES). The Bank of England also provides vacancies through the Analyst Career Training (ACT) Program.
Economics graduates also find employment in other government departments, banks, and insurance and accountancy firms.
