Mahmood Chandia has attended a diverse range of Institutions.  After memorising the Quran, Mahmood pursued Islamic and Arabic Language Studies at a traditional Muslim Institute of Learning in England.  This was followed by undergraduate studies leading to a Batchelor of Arts in Islamic Studies from the renowned Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt.  Mahmood then progressed to Post-graduate studies leading to a Master of Arts degree in Middle Eastern Studies, at the University of Manchester, England.  At Manchester he also successfully completed a Doctoral research programme and was awarded a Ph. D in Middle Eastern Studies. 

Mahmood joined the International School for Communities, Rights and Inclusion in September 2008 as Senior Lecturer in and Programme Leader of Islamic Studies.  His research interests include: Islamic Manuscripts, Islamic Jurisprudence and Thought, Muslims in Britain, Muslim Studies, Islamic Philosophy and Mental Health Well-being and Islamic Finance.
