UCLan Student Survey

UCLan Student Survey

What is the UCLan Student Survey?

The questionnaire provides ALL students with the opportunity to give feedback to the university on their experience. The survey is simple to complete and takes no longer than 15 minutes.

Individual views are kept strictly confidential and the results are presented in a way that does not identify individuals. For further information about the UCLan Student Survey, please email studentsurveys@uclan.ac.uk

You Said - We Did

Examples of improvements your feedback has helped make possible at the university are:

• 930 more en-suite accommodation units
• Price review on canteen, food to be made more affordable
• More vending machines for easy access and more variety
• Plans for 120+ pieces of gym equipment for members and a new sports facility
• More areas for group learning
• Highlighting specific dates when students will get their feedback from assignments

Prize Draw Details

All students who completed the survey were entered into the Grand Prize Draw to win:

Dell Inspiron Netbook   8Gb iPod Nano   £50 'love2shop' voucher

A Dell Inspiron Mini 1018, one of two 8Gb iPod Nanos or one of two £50 'love2shop' vouchers.

Plus as a further incentive to fill in the survey early we operated two further prize draws for those who filled in the survey for the chance to win one of four £50 'love2shop' vouchers. These draws were made on Monday 7th November and Monday 21st November.

In addition to this the first 500 students to complete the UCLan student survey received a free £5 print credit.

Last Year’s Prize WinnersUSS 2010 prize winners

Back in October last year, nearly 4,000 students completed the UCLan Student Survey. The survey provides every student the opportunity to provide feedback to the university on their experiences.

At a prize giving ceremony several lucky students, drawn from a hat, were rewarded for their efforts when they received special prizes from Rod Dubrow Marshall, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience).

This year we have even more prizes to give away with draws running every fortnight building up to the Grand Prize giveaway of a Dell Netbook as soon as the survey closes on December 2nd.

Last Year’s Results

The UCLan Student Survey gives every single student the chance to provide feedback on their experience here at the University. Last year we achieved a survey response rate of 20.4% and we are working closely with Schools and Services to make the student experience better and improve the services we offer as a result of your participation in the survey.

Survey in brief

Why is it Important?

Your views are really important to us here at UCLan. We aspire to provide a fantastic experience to all our students and the UCLan Student Survey gives every single student the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience here at the university.

What happens to my feedback?

The results of the survey are used for the following purposes:

1. To publish aggregated and anonymised results of the survey, in a way so that no individual can be identified.
2. To provide summary feedback to schools and services to help identify areas of strength and those that require improvement. This may include comments that students have provided although these will not be attributed to individuals. Students are advised not to make comments that could enable them to be individually identified.

Where can I go to take part?

The survey will next run in October 2012.
