Christian Prayer.

 The new time for Prayer during the Day held by Revd. Stephen Johnson will be 3.00pm Monday to Thursday.  This service will in the Christian tradition with an opportunity for free prayer to be offered, and will also include a prayer cycle focused on the university. 

All students and staff welcome.

Bhagavad-Gita As It Is by His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, explained in English by Vidyagati Devi Dasi every Wednesday, at The Gujarat Hindu Society Temple, South Meadow Lane, Preston.                                                                                                                                               

 'Seminars for a Happy Life' -Become free from Stress-Learn Mantra Meditation- Experience True Satisfaction - Understand your Real Self.   Meetings held at the Preston Council for Voluntary Service, Conference Room, Guild Hall, Arcade, Lancaster Road, Preston.  Every third Thursday in the month meetings held in Harris Building Room 219, University of Central Lancashire.

MAJOR FESTIVALS  OF WORLD RELIGIONS 2010.

BAHA'I - Ridvan - 12 day festival celebrating the day when Baha'u'llah said he was the prophet predicted by the Bab, lst day 21 April, 9th day 29 April, 12th day 2nd May.

BUDDHIST - Wesak - Celebrates the Buddha's birthday, and, for some Buddhists, also marks his enlightenment and death - 27 May.

CHRISTIANITY - Lent - Period of reflection in preparation for Easter - 17 February - 3 April.  Easter - Celebrates the resurrection of Jesus - 4 April.  Advent - Period of reflection in preparation for Christmas 28 November - 24 December.  Christmas Day - Celebrates the birth of Jesus - 25 December.

HINDU - Diwali - The festival of lights 5 November.

JEWISH - Passover - 8 day festival when Jews commemorate the liberation of the Children of Israel who were led out of Egypt by Moses 30 March- 6 April.  Yom Kippur - The Day of Atonement . The most solemn day of the Jewish year - 18 September.  Hanukkah - The festival of lights marks the restoration of the Temple by the Maccabees in 164BCE - 5 November.

MUSLIM - Ramadan - The Muslim month of fasting 12 August - 9 September.  Eid-Ul-Fitr - The end of Ramadan when Muslims celerate the end of fasting and thank Allah for his help with their month-long act of self-control 10 September.  Eid-Ul-Adha - Festival of Sacrifice marking the day after Arafat.  The day of Arafat is the most important day in the Hajj ritual, this is a five day holiday 17 November - 21 November.
