Welcome to the Sustainable Travel pages

Supporting Sustainable and Active Travel

The University through implementation of its Travel Plan, is working to help make the campus and Preston a healthier and sustainable place in which to work, study or visit.

These pages give details of the different ways of travelling to UCLan whether as a student, member of staff or a visitor. To support the Travel Plan and to help reduce the congestion, pollution and carbon emissions associated with car travel, please consider using sustainable modes where possible; including using public transport, cycling, walking and car sharing.

The following help is available to plan your journey:

  • View the Modes of Travel pages opposite for advice and information for different modes

  • Use the Personal Journey Planner to find the best modes for your commuting journey to UCLan arriving at 9am and leaving at 5pm [If you need further assistance contact the FM Sustainable Travel Team based in Car Parking Services on 01772 892066]

  • Go to Traveline to access a public transport journey planner

  • Lancashire County Council provides bus routes and timetables to download, real time transport information, travelling tips and details of transport related events across Lancashire

  • Transport Direct is a national journey planner, compares your journey by time and carbon emissions by both car and public transport

  • Thinking of planning a journey by bike? Then check out http://www.cyclestreets.net/
