MSc Social Psychology is designed to further your knowledge of psychology and advanced methodologies and develop your research ability through guided practical work. Entry Requirements
Specific entry requirements for the course are that students should normally have an upper second class honours degree in Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society as conferring Graduate Basis for Registration, or equivalent.
Course Content
Taught units account for 50% of the MSc Social Psychology course. The primary purpose of the taught component is to develop your knowledge of psychology beyond undergraduate level. This is achieved by a substantial compulsory module in advanced methodology and several advanced modules in specific areas of Social Psychology. The remainder of the course is based on an advanced project. You will be expected to take a major responsibility for designing, conducting, analysing and interpreting the results of a substantial empirical investigation that will make a contribution to psychology. This will develop your research ability well beyond undergraduate level, and together with the taught units, will enhance your conceptual understanding of the discipline.

Learning Environment:
We aim to provide the best possible facilities for our students. The School is based in the new multi-million pound Darwin Building. This was purpose-built for Psychology. There are specialist teaching and research rooms such as the Video Observation Suite, the Health Psychology Suite, and Cognitive and Sport Laboratories. The Building also includes a state-of-the-art lecture theatre and computer rooms. Students have their own resource room. The modules are delivered in a variety of ways. For example, the advanced methods module is taught via lectures and workshops. The Level 4 half-modules in Social Psychology are taught by directed reading, tutorials and independent learning sessions. The advanced research project involves individual meetings with a supervisor.
