Course Title:
Eastern Fashion Design (Subject to validation)
BA (Hons) Eastern Fashion Design is based at the UCLan Burnley Campus. This three year degree references the rich cultural heritage of the East and cross-cultural influences. The course is ideally suited to students with an interest in fabric manipulation and decoration, with a feel for experimental fusion fashion ideas.Students study fashion with a global perspective in order to produce contemporary collections that retain strong elements of craft technique. Design ideas are brought into forward thinking concepts through experimentation and in-depth research. Emphasis is placed on the importance of luxury through hand finishing and embellishments, and because of this class sizes are purposefully kept small leading to a supportive teaching and learning environment. Different approaches to achieving silhouettes are explored via experimental pattern cutting techniques investigating both Eastern and Western approaches. Alongside the creativity students develop business knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit is fostered.

Projects are marked out of 100 and this mark will be split into various sub headings such as presentation, technical ability, research etc. You will be given the criteria for assessment on each brief so you will know how much weighting is attached to each element before you begin the project. The module projects make up 100% of your module mark. If there is more than one project per module the Grade Point Average will be used to calculate the module grade. There are no formal examinations.
