Want to more about this course and subject?

Animation is one of the fastest growing industries.  There are many careers you can go into with a degree and knowledge of animation including computer games, digital graphics and illustration.  Animation crosses over into many disciplines and uses a variety of skills including drawing, acting, writing and film-making.

The Animation course at UCLan is one of the best in the country.  Taught by professionals, this course encourages students to explore their own creativity within the framework of industry awareness.  Learning how to animate is key to this course and essential for any job in animation whether you work in CGI on 3D max or Cel Action or stop frame. Timing and knowing how to animate is the key.  We back up this essential knowledge with up-to-date software and fantastic spaces for stop frame animators.

This unique course allows students to animate in the medium of their choice.  Currently the demand from the animation industry is for diversity and this course provides the opportunity for students to explore all methods of animation taught by a range of specialist tutors with industry knowledge of each method.

We are currently the only University to have Cel Action 2D software available on the University server. Cel Action is the industry standard 2D software for most animation series. We also have brilliant studio spaces and cameras for stop frame animators with good workshops and specialist tuition for building sets and puppets. Here at UCLan we pride ourselves in giving students the right kind of training to prepare them for the next stage in their journey, the industry.
