UCLan's new Westlakes Campus in West Cumbria delivers University Education for Britain's Energy Coast^TM.
 
The campus offers support to local people, employers, new business and other stakeholders, and is an important contibutor to the ongoing prosperity of the area.

The campus brings a full University experience with an emerging research community and the benefits of being part of a large University.

Locally delivered flexible education
Many programmes at the Westlakes Campus will be delivered flexibly, taking into account student availability, and using tools such as remote access to resources and e-learning tools to enhance the student experience.

Links with local employers ensure courses offered are relevant to Cumbrian needs
UCLan has links with many local employers and will continue to develop these links as part of our ongoing programme of employer engagement, working with employers to develop programmes that are relevant to their industries and the needs of local people, whilst still having the accreditation and national links that a major university can bring.

Developing a research community on the west coast
UCLan already undertakes research and has expertise in environmental sciences and health in West Cumbria. It is UCLan’s intention to develop a research community, through studentships and original and applied research in collaboration with local businesses. Building on our Preston and Westlakes Research Institute capability we will further develop our national and international links in areas such as nuclear, low carbon, environment, sustainable development, and applied policy sciences

A focal point for innovation and business development
The UCLan Westlakes Campus will be a focal point for innovation and business development, not only through the activities of the business incubation and support facility but also through industry exhibitions and conferences, regular lectures and insights meetings
