The University of Central Lancashire has an established Institute for Postgraduate Education delivering part-time courses in advanced dentistry for qualified dentists and a new School of Dentistry providing a  full time BDS course leading to qualification as a dentist.

Graduate Entry Bachelor of Dental Surgery

The School of Dentistry provides a four year full time course leading to a degree that is recognised for registration as a dentist with General Dental Council. The four year course is specifically designed for students who already have a degree in a biomedical science. Students spend one year on the Preston Campus and are then distributed to one of four Dental Education Centres (DECs) for their clinical experience. The DECs are situated in Accrington (E Lancs), Blackpool, Carlisle and Morecambe Bay.

Postgraduate Degrees

The postgraduate degrees delivered by the Institute for Postgraduate Dental Education (Advanced Dental Care Centre) enhance general dental practice skills both clinically and academically.

These flexible, part-time programmes allow general dental practitioners to gain new skills whilst providing an environment in which to protect their financial and social interests in their practices.

Our programmes provide general dental practitioners a pathway to acquire adequate postgraduate skills, in order to confirm their status as a Dentist with a Special Interest and to provide those services at their own practices to the community.
