UCLan offers two Dental Schools at its Preston Campus to assist students to register as a dentist with General Dental Council or to enable practitioners within the dental profession to enhance and develop their skills.

The School of Dentistry, which offers the 4 year graduate-entry Bachelor of Dental Surgery is specifically designed for students who already have a degree in a biomedical science.  Students spend one year on the Preston Campus and are then distributed to one of four North-west Dental Education Centres (DECs), which are equipped with brand new state-of-the-art facilities, for their clinical experience.

The School of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education caters for qualified dental practitioners and the wider dental team, providing a growing portfolio of part-time, postgraduate degrees. The School works in conjunction with governing dental bodies, ensuring that the curriculum offered facilitates transferable skill development.

The General Dental Council commented that UCLan delivers ‘a particularly innovative dental degree programme’ with imaginative use of IT, e-learning and an emphasis on learning dentistry within the local community.
