Course Content

Course Outline:

Solution focused interventions offer a chance to have positively orientated conversations with people who are struggling with problems. Rather than reconsidering all the horrible places people have been, this approach helps them to set out what ‘better’ might look like, and how to take small steps that will carry them there.

Academic Expertise

Nick Bohannon is a senior lecturer at UCLan. His teaching focuses on mental health and wellbeing, and solution focused interventions which he uses daily in practice and when supporting students and colleagues.

Learning outcome & aims

You will:

  • Identify situations where a solution focused approach might be beneficial.
  • Use basic solution focused interventions and thinking to creatively move from being stuck, to progressing

We have great links with employers including household names such as Sony, BAE Systems and Apple. We also have links with the smaller companies in the region and offer help and assistance to more than 1,000 of these – with many of our graduates staying in the region it is important we develop these relationships.
