Why study this programme?

If you’re already working in a managerial, technical or professional role, then this long-established part-time postgraduate course, delivered entirely online, could be for you. This management qualification is recognised by employers in all industries and sectors, and allows you to study in a way that is tailored to your needs without the need to attend lectures on campus. The course will be directed towards the attainment, assessment and evaluation of knowledge and skills required for your personal and ongoing career development. You’ll be provided with a stimulating postgraduate business and management education, one that will involve you in developing alongside other experienced managers, professionals and technical specialists.

Entry Requirements

Admission is based on a holistic review of each candidate’s work experience and educational qualifications in order to assess their ability to benefit from the programme. Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant and appropriate work experience. In terms of the minimum educational qualifications, an HND/C or Foundation Degree or equivalent professional body qualification is typically sought. Candidates without the above educational qualifications but with appropriate managerial, administrative, technical or professional experience will also be considered for the programme.

Programme at a Glance

The six course modules are over three semester and will provide you with a through grounding in the following key business and management subjects:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Management Environment
  • Contemporary Marketing in Organisations
  • Postgraduate Study and Learning Skills

The course is taught exclusively online, pre-recorded lectures, live webinars, tutorial support, together with online VLE. Students study 60 credits in total.

Learning Environment and Assessment

As this programme is delivered entirely online, it gives you maximum flexibility. Each week you will watch the pre-recorded videos and contribute toward the online VLE ‘Blackboard’ discussion boards. The Library provides access to electronic information services, via the University network.

The course comprises some 60 credits worth of postgraduate studies completed part-time over three ‘semesters’. This means you can complete the Online Post Graduate Certificate in Management in one year. The course starts in January each year. As this programme is delivered online, it gives you maximum flexibility. Each week you will watch the pre-recorded videos and contribute toward the online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) ‘Blackboard’ and discussion boards.

Within each module the online assessment methods are designed to contribute to you continuing development – providing feedback on a regular basis, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing online evaluations of your progress. 

Progression Routes

The course paves the way for you to then move onto the Diploma in Management Studies (DMS), and then a master’s qualification, including (with three years’ relevant work experience) the Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Fee Information

 The University offers a number of tuition fee reductions for eligible new postgraduate taught students:

  • UCLan award holders studying a postgraduate taught course full-time and paying a standard or higher tuition fee may be eligible for a £1000 tuition fee discount 
  • UCLan award holders studying a postgraduate taught course part-time or a postgraduate research degree (full or part time) may be eligible for a 20% tuition fee discount
