Course Outline:
This is intended for counsellors and psychotherapists who want to enhance their work with client’s to include an often forgotten (or deliberately omitted) area of a person’s life. The three hour workshop will look at the reasons’ why this is an often omitted area of counselling work; to consider how/why sex is an important part of what makes us human and individuals and how it can affect relationships; it will offer a framework that can be used in early counselling session.

Academic Expertise

Peter lectures in counselling and psychotherapy at UCLan whilst also working one day each week as a consultant psychosexual psychotherapist. He has more than 35 years’ experience of working as a counsellor and more than ten years’ experience of psychosexual psychotherapy. 

Learning outcome & aims

By the end of the workshops participants will:

  • Have a better understanding of the importance of sex for the individual.
  • Understand the reasons why sex is often ignored but why it should become a part of most counselling relationships.
  • Develop a framework that can be used with counselling clients to further enhance the counsellor’s practice as well as the client’s experience.

We also have links with the smaller companies in the region and offer help and assistance to more than 1,000 of these – with many of our graduates staying in the region it is important we develop these relationships.
