The College of Business, Law and Applied Social Studies strives to provide a vibrant, innovative and stimulating learning environment to study subjects concerned with the business, legal and social environments. 

Underlying all we do is a dedication and commitment to providing excellent learning opportunities, raising aspirations and supporting students to fulfil their potential and make a positive contribution to society through their achievements.

The College offers a wide range of courses that are endorsed by professional accreditation and supported with work experience to ensure that students, as well as working professionals, receive the very best industry and practice relevant learning. Our main subjects include business, management, law, accounting, tourism, criminology, social work, community work and education.

We have over 250 engaging and passionate teaching staff, many involved in internationally renowned, cutting-edge research which makes a positive impact in the real world – and directly connects with our programmes of study.

We also work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to bring industry and practice experience from professionals to the classroom setting. The College has over 6,000 students - many from around the globe through our international partnerships and, as such, offers a vibrant and stimulating learning environment with a mix of different cultures and backgrounds.

The College also includes The Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT).

Within the College of Business, Law and Social Studies, we conduct innovative and interdisciplinary research which provides a foundation to develop policy and practice at national and international levels, to improve our environment and society and promote equality.

With wide-ranging research expertise across public policy development, business practice, justice and equality, our researchers are making a real contribution to improving our everyday lives, including national and international collaborations to help solve crimes and inform policies and research in social work, law, human rights, justice and equality, often user-led and interdisciplinary, to influence legislation, social policies and practice.
