The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is delighted to announce the expansion of its collaboration with UOM Enterprise for the delivery of UCLan courses in Mauritius. The expansion is in the areas of Law, and Construction, where Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes will be offered.
UOM Enterprise was established by the UOM Trust (a charitable trust set up by the University of Mauritius) to respond to the training needs of the African continent. UOM Enterprise is located in brand new teaching facilities at 1st Floor, Blue Tower, Rue de l'Institut, Ebene and is a registered tertiary institution, providing top-class programmes for ambitious people.
UCLan’s LLM has been operating within Mauritius since 2011 and has been highly praised by students and the professional law community in Mauritius. The School has also been active in providing seminars to the DPP’s office and has held conferences such as ‘Piracy of the Seas’.
UCLan is delighted to be offering courses in Mauritius supporting the Government’s objective to welcome over 100,000 international students to Mauritius and UCLan.
Twenty-one students have celebrated academic success at the third graduation ceremony for the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and the University of Mauritius (UOM) Trust.
The LLM International Business Law students donned their academic cap and gown on Thursday 18 July 2015. The ceremony, which was held at the University of Mauritius, also recognised Mrs Justice Ah Foon Chui Yew Cheong with an Honorary Fellowship.
The Puisne Judge to the Supreme Court of Mauritius received the award in respect of her contribution to the Mauritian judicial system and her work with UCLan developing CPD opportunities. In March 2015 Mrs Justice Cheong hosted a group of UCLan Preston law students, who worked alongside UCLan students studying in Mauritius.
There was also recognition for student, Miss Ramsurrun Manika Priyanka, who received an award for outstanding performance whilst studying on the LLM International Business Law programme.
UCLan’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Robin Pollard officiated the event which well attended by students, parents and friends. Also in attendance was Dr Jean Claude Autry, the Chancellor of the University of Mauritius; Mr Preeaduth Chitamun, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the UOM Trust; the previous year’s honorary fellow, Chief Justice Honourable Kheshoe Parsad Matadeen; and many judges from the Supreme Court including Justice Satyabhooshun Gupt Domah.
