Visual History Project
Visual History is a project to address the on-line visualisation and retention of data and assets that are produced by students while undertaking a research project in History, and is applicable to a wide range of related subject areas.

Currently outputs from such projects are displayed on large display boards using printed copies of images, maps and typewritten narrative, but this has 2 disadvantages. There isn’t the possibility of displaying multimedia items using these methods, and the display boards are available for only a short time at a specific venue restricting the potential audience.
The Visual History Project will work with a well established second year history degree module to develop a way to visualise the research outputs making them accessible, with a fuller range of assets, to a wider audience using the web.
The Visual History Project Team members are:
- Phil Holifield Project Manager
- Steve Caunce Historian
- Barbara McManus HCI Design and Evaluation
- Mike Cottam Web Architect
- Dongjie Xu Developer
The project is funded by JISC and is part of the JISC Rapid Innovation Grant programme JISCRI
