Over recent years the Travel Bursary Scheme has provided financial support to Schools and individual students and has made a significant contribution to the internationalisation of the student experience.
Rachel Boydell, a BSc (Hons) Neuroscience undergraduate student was successful in receiving a bursary which allowed her to travel to the USA in order to attend Duke University's 'Neuroscience Bootcamp'.
She said: "I decided that I wanted to go on a travel bursary somewhere where I could expand my learning about Neuroscience. Remarkably I was lucky enough to be awarded a travel bursary, without which this trip would have been impossible. My trip was to Duke Institute of Brain Sciences, Duke University, North Carolina where I was invited to participate in a Neuroscience Bootcamp.
"This, in fact, turned out to be a PhD entrance program which was not only brilliant for increasing my knowledge but also gave me an excellent taste of research tools and skills for the future. My lecturers at UCLan and the UCLan Bursary Team were incredibly supportive of me attending this course."
