UCLan students’ planned campaign kicks off in spring 2014

Final year public relations students from the Lancashire Business School (LBS) have teamed up with the Manchester-based People’s History Museum (PHM) to deliver a live project in spring 2014 that includes a set of organised events.

PR students have been putting together the communication campaign for PHM since September 2013 as part of UK Progress consultancy and this year they are ready to put the plan into action. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the museum among Preston and Manchester students and motivate them to share their ideas worth fighting for.

Project account manager Emma Urjasova said: “The campaign brings a new way of connecting Manchester students with the museum, which is keen to learn about ideas worth fighting for from a student perspective.”

UCLan’s squad will be visiting campuses of UCLan, Salford University and Manchester Metropolitan University to deliver day-long interactive events, which will provide students with an opportunity to discover PHM and participate in a photo competition.

Emma added: “We’re pleased to deliver this project as it provides an invaluable experience of working with PHM, a real client from a non-profit sector as well as applying our PR knowledge and skills gained at the University.”

Karen Moore, Marketing Manager at PHM, said: “The People’s History Museum has benefitted from the ongoing collaboration between the museum and UCLan PR students during the current academic year and the team is looking forward to finding out the results of the project.”

UK Progress is a communications consultancy run by final year public relations students who work with clients to develop creative campaigns.

It enables students to work with a number of clients in strategic PR planning and delivery in two modules as part of their degree course. UK Progress combines practical and theoretical skills, helping undergraduates to become skilled PR professionals.
