A graduate from B.A Hons Acting, is receiving rave reviews for his performance as Joseph K in Stephen Berkoff’s The Trial, on national tour with Black-Eyed Theatre Company.

After graduating from UCLan’s Acting degree in 2005 with first class honours, Simon Wegrzyn has a range of successes under his belt including appearances with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at the National theatre with the prestigious Knee High Theatre Company. Now his latest performance on national tour as Joseph K in Stephen Berkoff’s The Trial with Blackeyed Theatre Company, is receiving rave reviews. The Stage recently gave it five stars calling it “ A masterclass of ensemble work…choreographed with the precision of a metronome, Blackeyed Theatre’s production of Steven Berkoff’s play engages and fascinates" while Remote Goat called it “An Amazing production; Faultless execution; Brilliant” stating that “Simon Wegryzn superbly craves sympathy in his bewildered guise as unhappy Joseph K " The Public Reviews gave it a four stars review, singling Simon out for praise saying “Simon Wegrzyn plays K with an uncompromising confidence"

In a recent interview for The Courtyard, Simon talked about his training at UCLan saying “I’ve been very lucky as an actor, I worked with Kneehigh Theatre, and I was with the RSC for a bit. I studied at UCLan, where we did a lot of work on physical skills, character embodiment, that sort of thing. The training I did there really made me sure I wanted to do ensemble work. It’s wonderful to work with a company like this. It gives me the chance to perform in theatres I’ve dreamed of performing in.”

Simon is also the writer and producer of an on line drama Cigarettes and Eyeliner and has also written and produced plays for regional radio and for appeared in various adverts and BBC drama’s. Speaking of his training at UCLan he states, “You will get the solid drama school training but in a university environment - which is ultimately a wonderful experience to make friends and meet people from all other courses at the university. Within the build friends for life! UCLan acting has been the start of my very fruitful career.”
