Pearce has always had a passion for the construction industry ever since he was a child. A family member suggested he become a quantity surveyor and he made that his goal when he decided to apply to UCLan.
According to Pearce: “UCLan seemed the most inviting university. It also offered the skills and knowledge that I would need to get into the industry, with a Royal Institute of Charted Surveyors (RICS) accredited degree.”
After graduating, Pearce quickly got his first job as a junior surveyor at Macclesfield-based Decipher Construction Consultants (UK) Ltd.
“At UCLan, connections with external business is very strong and stands the university in a very good position when it comes to employment.”
Within two months Pearce was promoted from junior quantity surveyor to assistant quantity surveyor and, despite only graduating in 2014, is now in training to become a fully chartered surveyor to achieve MRICS status.
Pearce reflected on his time at UCLan: “The skills and knowledge I have obtained from my degree alone are impressive and what led to my promotion. My managing director has commented that the level of competency of UCLan graduates is phenomenal and he hopes to recruit more UCLan graduates in the future.”
