Nursing students and staff raised £1250 for the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Benevolent Fund charity last year as part of their Nurses Day celebrations. The money was raised through a series of fun activities including a bake sale, quizzes, raffles and a text book sale. The event was held in Harrington Building foyer.
Sabina Sattar, Senior Lecturer and fundraising co-ordinator for this event said: “It is a fantastic achievement by the students to raise such a large amount in one day. Nursing is a profession all about caring and social involvement and these students, who are the future of nursing, have demonstrated these attributes.”
International Nurses Day takes place in May and UCLan will host a comedy night on Tuesday 7th May at 6pm featuring some well-known comedians. There is a minimum donation of £5 per seat. There will be more fundraising activities in Harrington foyer on 8th May. More details of all the events can be found on the UCLan Nurses Day Facebook page.
