Course: BA(Hons) Publics Relations
Lucy Moore graduated from UCLan in 2011 with a degree in Public Relations, after originally being interested in Journalism. During her time as a student Lucy did a couple of month long placements with charities. Today she works as a Senior Account Executive at RMS PR.
She said: “My day-to-day job varies massively which is what is so interesting about PR. I do anything from writing articles, press releases, website copy and e-shots, to managing client accounts, pitching articles and story ideas to editors, organising events and photo shoots for clients, and managing social media accounts.”
Lucy loved her time at UCLan and she particularly enjoyed the final year UK Progress modules in which students work in groups on a client project. They are assessed for their skills in planning and producing work.
“Those modules were the most memorable for me as it introduced us to actually working for a client which I thought was really important,” Lucy said. “I also really enjoyed the module where we were trained to do crisis TV and radio interviews – it was nerve wracking but taught me a lot about how to manage situations.
“I feel like I have moved up the career ladder really quickly and I’m really proud that I have been trusted enough to be responsible for managing clients and big campaigns. In my 19 months in the PR industry I have done media support for clients at huge tradeshows and events in both Philadelphia and Madrid which were great experiences.”
