Lin-Yao grew up in Germany to a family of Chinese descent. As a result of her background she always had a fascination with China and Chinese culture.
As a result, Lin-Yao came to UCLan to study Business Management with Chinese. She made the most of her course by taking up the option to work and study in China.
“China is still a growing market, within the four years of this course; we all became experts for China and the Chinese market in a business sense, making us very attractive for employers with business in China,” she says.
After graduating with a first class honours Lin-Yao applied for a Masters at Beijing Normal University. In her final semester, she took the chance to do an internship at Audi in the HR department whilst writing her graduation thesis. Her internship led to her having a full-time position at Audi.
As a HR Consultant, Lin-Yao supports the trainee programme at Audi China. The programme aims to recruit potential graduates with international experience. Her job is to support recruitment activities as well as providing the on-site support related to this programme.
Commenting on her time at UCLan, Lin-Yao said: “I had an amazing time at UCLan. It was a time to learn about yourself, to grow up, the first time far away from home. I was lucky enough to have met friends from all over the world; this diversity has taught me lot about other cultures as well as raised my interest to see more of the world.”
She added: “My greatest achievement so far was to find a job I like straight after graduating from my masters. I was lucky to know exactly what kind of job I wanted. It is important that you are passionate about your course.”
