During his time at UCLan, Kyran Chana spent a placement year in Dubai working for the world’s largest interior contractor, Depa. Kyran worked on two prestigious projects: Beach Palace and Logo Island, where he assisted the Senior Site Quantity Surveyor and the Commercial Manager.
Kyran said: “I really enjoyed the experience; it really broadened my knowledge of the field.”
A couple of weeks after his final exam, the Grenfell-Baines School of Architecture, Construction and Engineering at UCLan contacted a local company, Critical Path Limited, to enquire about any positions available to graduates. Kyran was given the opportunity to attend an interview and soon after was accepted onto a project in Bulgaria.
He continued: “I went to the Head Office to meet the Directors on the Friday morning and by the Monday morning I was flying off to Bulgaria to start my new career! I have been working on the Danube Bridge II Project for nearly two years now and I love every moment of it.”
Kyran has also recently been involved in two Extension of Time claims and assisted with a Quantum Submission. He believes that it was his diverse course that gave him fantastic grounding in all aspects of his field. Kyran is now keen to go down the route of project management and dispute resolution.
“The skills I developed from my course and my knowledge and further understanding of my duties have helped me to hit the ground running straight away.”
