A group of journalism postgraduate students was hosted by top national media organisations on a visit from Preston to London this week (January 14).
At the BBC, the students were given a tour of the world's most sophisticated television newsroom at the Corporation's new Broadcasting House. Later, executives from the Telegraph Media Group introduced exciting new developments with 'interactive' newsprint that can link directly to smart phones and tablets. At the Independent they learnt, among other things about London's brand new local TV station, which the company is launching in March.
"It was an exciting glimpse into the future for all of us," said senior journalism lecturer Michael Williams, who organised the trip. "The future of journalism is vibrant, and so also is the prospect of good jobs in the industry for our students."
