Jessica was keen to study Pharmacy at UCLan because she liked the idea of placements being provided in each year and “the facilities within the University were state of the art.” In addition she also chose UCLan because she “loved the idea of being taught by pharmacists and being in contact with them throughout the four years of the course.”
The leap from college to university didn’t come without its challenges. “Moving away from family and friends was probably the biggest barrier” she says but adding that overcoming this was easy by making new friends with other students who were in the same situation.
“Work hard from day one, but make the most of all opportunities at UCLan and socialise.”
According to Jessica, what sets studying Pharmacy at UCLan apart from other universities is that it has “variety of lab work, tutorials, lectures and group work throughout the week which is something that is unique to the course.” Jessica also enjoys being taught in practice modules by working pharmacists, describing them as a “brilliant addition.”
When asked why prospective students should study Pharmacy at UCLan, Jessica says everyone “should do this course because of the opportunities to do placements, both in the UK and across the world, add a great amount of weight to your CV when applying for pre-reg placements.”
